Fw: The Old and The New.... and my last note from card from this email address. Please read.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year…and warm, loving memories of days gone by. We all have had heart ache this year, tough times…losses. lies and let-downs. But we've also been  happily surprised…loved unconditionally….blown away by a coincidence….gotten a gift.
I don't know if it's healthy or not. I have a hard time with forgiveness so besides asking God for help on that, I play a little game and take the hard times, the troubles, the sadness, and pretend to put them one by one into little paper bags…and then toss them into the gentle river. When the bag containing the pain or sadness or bad time rolls around the bend and out of sight….it is gone from me. I used to do this for real. I know it wasn't environmentally friendly, I suppose. But, ever since I was a kid…I would write down the "bummer" and put it in a bag and drop it into the river behind my house.
I try to walk away from each year with remembering what was good…and forgetting the rest. My fervent prayer for you is that you have much to remember, and very little to forget.

I would like to suggest that if you are NOT yet on my list at http://www.guygilchristmusic.com  to PLEASE register your email there. It's very hard to send out greetings through Yahoo mail, and I won't be able to do it anymore. So PLEASE stay in touch and become an ETeam member at http://www.guygilchristmusic.com
Send me a note telling me you got this and did so, so I know we'll stay in touch!

TODAY'S DOGG By Guy Gilchrist March 10, 2010

This just seemed so natural to do. I was watching Rin-Tin-Tin last night, and there ya go. I think a lot of us dog lovers say thank you everyday to The Lord for the love He has put into our lives....and so much love and devotion and truth comes from our animals.
Oh, the Cat With No Name is doing fine. She is healing very well, and should be back to her roaming ways in a week or so. She's ticked to all getout because I can't let her roam outside until she heals up. Thursday, I'm recording a song about her called "The Cat With No Name". I'll look forward to hearin' what you think down the line when it's done and good to go. She has yet to ask for a piece of the royalty. She hasn't heard about it yet, though.
Speaking of "good to go"...our new website for DOGG is almost that!! We have another day or so, and then...well...I think you'll really enjoy it. We are trying to import all our email subscribers and all that to the new site so you will have no issues coming along with us.
Did you see? 2400 fans of TODAY'S DOGG on Facebook?? WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!
Oh, thanks for all the well wishes about my first song cut of my new permanent Nashville move! The great Glenn Douglas Tubb wrote it with me, and is singing the tune. I'm so honored that Glenn, a giant in the business, writer with Johnny Cash and Hank Williams,Senior is writing and recording with me.
God bless you

Today's Dogg By Guy(I love my Grandma) Gilchrist March 9th, 2010

This post is dedicated to my Step father's Mama. I called her "Mama". She was Italian, and a Farmgirl from the old country. Very practical lady. No one ever went unfed.
She always had Pasta Fazool, Chicken LaCatetore,Sausage and Peppers...on the stove. You brought the mail...here's a sandwich. 4:30 in the morning..the paperboy brings the paper to her "front Stoop"..he gets a sandwich. She lived through the "Great Depression". She saved the family Business with her common sense. No one went hungry.
A dime was a dime. Alot of money. No credit for Mama. Cash on the barrelhead. She would go into barber shops and give pennies for the old comic books for me to read. A dime was a dime. She loved all animals. Dogs, cats.
She would be proud I am taking care of the street cat with no name...our stray here. She's lived on this street for 12 years, close as anyone can tell. Our neighbors named her  KitKat. So, that's the name of the cat with no name. Busted up, but such a sweet sweet cat. Paying for the Vet to sew her up after she got badly injured in a fight this weekend. Now, Mama would have taken her to the Vet and bought a dollars' worth of medicine...but probably sewed her up herself, Mama. She was a farm girl.
Could plow a field all by herself at 76 if we let her.
Once she got the cat home, Then she would make wonderful food and put the medicine in the food for the cat to get better.
Mama  liked Rin-Tin-Tin and Lassie, and Cowboys. She always paid the barber a little extra cent or so for the dog and cowboy comics she knew I loved so much. I loved my Mama.  She's been cooking for The Angels for over 30 years now. I drew this one though....and read a few Rinty comics...fed the cat....and missed her more than usual today.
We'll be unveiling our brand new website for TODAY'S DOGG in the next day or so! Sherry Anderson, web wizard...has been working a full week getting all the stuff moved...and adding searchable archives and all kinds of cool stuff. PLEASE tell everyone you know to sign on and follow us! We are building a company here with a dedicated portion of every dime we make going straight to Animal and Humane Services. If you think of a way to help...let me know. I can't thank Sherry enough. She is the best at all she does and I am blessed to have her help. Her company is called Anderson Web Design, and you should hire her, too.
BTW, I sign all the stuff at my store at http://www.guygilchristmusic.com/
You should, could, maybe  buy stuff. A dime's a dime.

TODAY'S DOGG By Guy (Jesus Loves Me This I Know)Gilchrist March 8, 2010

Here's Monday morning....and a Sunday morning theme.
I am also including today our "24" cartoon with Laura Tisdel's great color! 'cause it's JACK BAUER Monday!
It's been a terrific week. I'm now working on some projects with Miss Daphne Hereford, Owner of Rin-Tin-Tin.  I got to write with amazing, amazing people this week. I wrote with Gary Hannan, the BMI Song of The Year Winner for "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" and "Back When I Knew It All", Jimmy Payne who wrote "Woman, Woman" for Gary Puckett, and Glenn, my legendary friend, who wrote "Forsaken and Alone " with Hank Williams Sr, and "Home Of The Blues" for Johnny Cash...and "Skip A Rope". I look forward to playing you the songs. I am also having one of the songs I cowrote cut in the studio on Tuesday by it's co writer..Glenn Douglas Tubb. Glenn wrote with Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr. He's also had a legendary career as a singer. And , man, is it cool  to write with him....and having him record a song we wrote. I am really loving doing all of it. The writing, songs, playing drawing. Loving it all.
Please tell all your friends to subscribe to our comic. We are working really hard on creating a following and building a revenue stream with 1 out of each 5 dollars going to Animal and Humane Charities.
OH! You can hear my music, see more cartoons, tons of stuff...at http://www.guygilchristmusic.com/. We have a cool store there. Go buy stuff, willya?
See you in The Funny Papers!

More Doggs and Golf!
Boy...gets me itchin' get those sticks out again! Golf...Baseball....here comes Spring! I hope! Here in Nashville, it's been cold...so cold, I get the folks around here start to blaming me for bringing New England Weather down here with me. They call me a YANKEE. What a terrible thing to call a Red Sox fan....but they are saying we'll get to see 50 over the weekend. Maybe it'll stay this way and we'll start seeing some nice weather. I know so much of the country is totally snowed in! I'm sorry..don't mean to rub it in. But, I had 52 of those Connecticut Winters....and I'm about done with that shovelling...so's my ol' back!
I can't wait to play a little golf this year. Moving down south last year, I really had a messed up new schedule and didn't get to play at all. I need my time away from a board...from writing and drawing and business.  I find it meditative in a way. I bet you know what I mean. Martial Arts are the same way for me, too. You just have to be in the moment....right then....or it just doesn't work, you know?
You don't think about anything else but just what you're doing right then. It's a nice way to make the rest of the world go away for a bit. You know?
Hey! Beer Girl!

A Wonderful Day With Kids And Dogs In Tennessee! February 27th, 2010

My thanks to George Wallace, who took these photos and was the event photographer. I had a great time drawing pictures of DOGGS, Nancy, Bugs Bunny and so many other cartoons I hadn't even THOUGHT about drawing until a child asks me to....handing out gorgeous photos of Rin-Tin-Tin to some of his legion of fans....meeting so many nice people, making a nice piece of change to support the great work of New Leash On Life...and hanging out with Jessie. That dog that had me wrapped around his paw today.

Time Out From Doggs for A Frog, A Pig, and A Bear.....

Found this old PR Shot for our MUPPETS Comic Strip Brochure taken in 1981 at the Brownstone on East 69th where Jim had his office. That's me...oh my gosh is it really??? at the "board" and my brother Brad standing. You know the frog, the diva, and the bear. They tossed strips everywhere across a drafting table in the basement workshop to make it look like I was working. Heck. My studio in the garage was messier than that. Those files in the background, I think I remember, were parts like buttons and yarn and things like that to build the puppets. Those Oldies But Goodies...reminds me of-f-f-f-f-f-......Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.......

TODAY'S DOGG By Guy Gilchrist February 23, 2010

A little racing action for you today. As you can see, our Dogg doesn't play favorites.
NASCAR has started....the Sundays are exciting! I'm looking forward to getting over to Bristol this year!
I've been enjoying doing the theme weeks, and I hope you've been digging em , too. I'm going to run a week of non-theme ones...one shots...because I have so many!!!
I'm starting to get orders to run Today's Dogg in some newspapers! I'll let you know which ones as soon as the ink is dry on the Alpo Bag. That's how we write up our contracts here. Copule of pieces of jerky...shake hands..and to get realllll official.... sign an Alpo bag. Lawyers. Humph.
Starting from the first dollar we make, selling the comic any way we can...to websites, newspapers, anywhere..a percentage will go to helping our Dogs. That's how this operation  works. Don't get me wrong......I love money. Love it. So does my agent...and so do all the companies and individuals that we will work with. Hecck, if YOU didn't love money...you'd be paypaling me a hundred bucks a chuckle just because the comic is so funny! BTW..That works for me. Just throwin' that out there. I also accept cash. But...I also LOVE animals. Dogs, Cats. All creatures great and small. I do. And that is what this is all about.
I've made alot of product for the biggest names in Show Biz, and I love doing it. But...this one is different. I want this HUGE! And with a HUGE Charitable Heart. So far...I have heard from many folks who need money....and only a couple offering to help us MAKE some. I know. That's how this goes. I'll help all I can...and i can use your help, too.
So..if you have a product line, or anything you want to ask me about with Today's Dogg...I'm listening. If you have a little community paper, and ask them to run it...cool. You can contact me right through this email at the blog. Look...I 've been with the biggest character licensing in the world. I know how it works...and I want to do something special here. Man! I love drawing DOGGS!
And thank you, (speaking of biggest licensing characters in the world....and most loved.).. thank you to Rin-Tin-Tin for your endorsement!!! Rinny: I'm 10 with a bowl of cereal in front of our old black and white Admiral...on a braided rug....with a comic book, and a Tony The Tiger spoon...and I'm eating those big Shredded Wheat...and mom warmed the milk and put sugar on the top...you, and Bullet...and Roy, The Lone Ranger and Sky King and Lassie....I loved you. I still do. BTW...The current Official Rin-Tin-Tin, trained and bred by Miss Daphne,(The Bloodline is strong and so, so furry, friendly, and everything you ever dreamed Rinny was...) and I will be doing a joint appearance in Danville, Ill! April 10th! How cool is that? I am so blessed. More on that later...
The weirdness of  life is a beautiful, strange and delicate thing. Who knew? Dog Cartoons...?
Guy

Teaming Up With Local Animal Group...This Saturday!

I'll be out  drawing Pictures, and signing Cartoons and  hanging with everybody this Saturday at the Spay Station Celebration in Lebanon, TN. This is a real cool operation. A Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic that travels all over Tennessee. You get to decide what if any donation you'll make to the cause, and I'll draw Doggs and stuff. Sound like a good deal? The place is Wilson Hyundai...I hope I just spelled that right...and the link to the information is to the left where our links and gadgets are. There are tons of fun stuff for the kids..it's a whole holiday doggie hullaballoo. I'll get there just after Noon. The whole thing kicks off at 11 am. OH! Just in!! Gimme a "DateLineHollywood... Tic tic Tic"... Rin-Tin-Tin, famous Movie and TV Star that he is... is sending Official Hollywood Photos of his famous self, and we'll be handing those out for a donation you decide, too!
Here's the link.
