BTW, if you have a website, EMagazine, Newspaper, or Magazine that would like to get a TODAY'S DOG cartoon for your publication or site, just email me. All our cartoons are available for reprinting. You can even order a signed print of any of them. Here's to love and laughs.......and giving those little dogs a shread of dignity....Huggies? His doggie pals will RIP him from sun-up till sundown...can't DO THAT! See you on FB, Twitter, all that!

TODAY'S DOG By Guy Gilchrist February 3, 2010 Wednesday COLOR!

You know....you just can't take some dogs to the golf course with you, can ya?

Hey, I'm sorry if the email subscribers got messed up emails this morning! I am finding that if I post more than once sometimes the email prototype template they give us can't hold all the art.

I'll try and find a way around it.....we're always working hard to get this ol' caveman into the groove of how to do all this webstuff. I'm tryin! Extra special color one today! Colored by Laura Tisdel. Honk if you like color!

You folks on Facebook are just blowing me away. We have way over 1700 fans of Today's Dog By Guy Gilchrist ...and we got over 150 in 24 hours! WOW! Thank you so much. Spread the word, if you like what I'm doing. Please sign up for us on FB, Twitter, and email. It helps. We're working on making phone Apps better, too. HA! The Caveman just typed "phone apps".

I added some new links over on the links on the left there. Check them out when you can.

Below, I've added a link to a cool story about a self portrait found of Cash Coolidge...the man that painted those original Poker Playing Dogs...way back in the early 1900s. I also added his short Wikipedia bio on the left in the links. What great hysterical paintings those are. We had one hanging on the wall next to the old freezer in our garage, when I was growing up. I used to take it down and try to copy his paintings in pencil.

TODAY'S DOG By Guy Gilchrist February 2, 2010

Here's Today's Dog!
The dog in this cartoon is inspired this time round by one of Nascar Champion Ryan Newman's dogs. I've been working with Ryan and his wife Krissie creating a logo, and  characters, all for a brand new line of stuffed animals based on their real life dogs...all of which are rescues. We call them "Newman's Pup Crew" and the toys will be out soon. You're getting a "sneak peek" at one of the logos here.
The money raised through the Ryan Newman Foundation benefits animals and the environment, and education. I'll preview some of my logos I've done every now and again right here. I'm so, so proud to be working with The Newmans. They love, love, love dogs, and all animals...and do so much! It's one thing to care...it's another thing entirely to care...and then do something...not just once or twice but all the time. Ryan's a winner....and not just at the track. Check out the Newman Foundation through my links. And...cheer Ryan on startin' at Daytona!

Oh.......if you haven't signed up here yet for getting Today's Dog in your emails, or subscribing to your Twitter, FaceBook, or other account...please do! We want to build this thing so we can make a difference. Yes...I want to make a living with this cartoon, and the products that we can publish, and make from the cartoon. And, just like Ryan's Foundation, I want to build into our franchise a Charitable Outreach to Help Dogs and Cats and other Animals.I know...it's a terrific, huge and tough to get to goal. But, I'm  going for it. I have  alot of help, too. Folks like you. Thanks for spreadin' the word!

Today's Dog by Guy Gilchrist February 1, 2010

Ahhhh!!!! The Author's Book Signing! If only I had THAT many customers standing in line for me whenever I do one of those. I guess this one is such a favorite because of all those nights and days on the road doing these book tours.
I had a great weekend in Nashville. Two good new friends of mine, one that has become a Mentor to me in songwriting, Glenn Douglas Tubb, and his girl,Dottie Snow got married. Glenn is not a spring chicken..........heck....not even a summer rooster. He's one Autumn Awesome Dude, though.Glenn had his first hit record in 1948...if that tells you anything. Glenn wrote a ton of hits. "Home Of The Blues" for Johnny Cash, and Co-wrote "Forsaken and Alone" with Hank Williams. Yes. THAT Hank Williams....many years ago. "Skip A Rope" is his real biggie. He is so, so full of life, love and fun...what a man.
Dottie, her parents both Grand Ole Opry Members, has had a wonderful, long life as a Country and Gospel Singer, and is also a Minister. Well, Joanne Cash, Johnny Cash's  sister, did the marrying...and it was truly beautiful. Glenn was misty almost the whole way through, he was so filled with emotion. And this is one tough, cool dude, man. It was something. It really was a precious way for me to cap off my 53rd birthday. Really, really something. I'll never forget it. Life is for living. All the way.

I'm writing songs with Glenn, and am so priviledged to have him for a buddy. Hey...met Alice Cooper's Lead Guitarist there. He's Buds with Glenn too. Nashville's a cool town.
Oh, saw "Edge Of Darkness" with Mel Gibson for my "Birthday Date' after a dinner of awesome Catfish. It's a really good movie....really good. If you like thrillers...you'll like this one...oh, and everyone loves the catfish at John A's.
This all in a week when I got to see Kris Kristofferson at the Ryman, and then crack him up with a funny song later on after the show. MAN. Blessed week. And all your letters and emails and FB posts? So cool. Thank you so much.
OH! And it's Monday! That means 24 for us Jack addicts~! So, I'll REpost the Jack cartoon as a bonus, in case you didn't get it and send it to all your 24 pals the first time!
Hope you're subscribing to Today's Dog!! Tellin your friends, your enemies...your strangers off the street! 1600 folks on FB in a week and a half, and we have about 100 or so folks following here on the blogsite. ...plus a mess more subscribing on the RSS feed, I believe.
BTW, I still have some of those books(mine) not HIS on hand over at my store at my Music website. I'll sign em and mail em to ya and everything...all you gotta do is pay for em.
Here's to love and laughs with our pets, our friends, ourselves!
