A Wonderful Day With Kids And Dogs In Tennessee! February 27th, 2010

My thanks to George Wallace, who took these photos and was the event photographer. I had a great time drawing pictures of DOGGS, Nancy, Bugs Bunny and so many other cartoons I hadn't even THOUGHT about drawing until a child asks me to....handing out gorgeous photos of Rin-Tin-Tin to some of his legion of fans....meeting so many nice people, making a nice piece of change to support the great work of New Leash On Life...and hanging out with Jessie. That dog that had me wrapped around his paw today.

Time Out From Doggs for A Frog, A Pig, and A Bear.....

Found this old PR Shot for our MUPPETS Comic Strip Brochure taken in 1981 at the Brownstone on East 69th where Jim had his office. That's me...oh my gosh is it really??? at the "board" and my brother Brad standing. You know the frog, the diva, and the bear. They tossed strips everywhere across a drafting table in the basement workshop to make it look like I was working. Heck. My studio in the garage was messier than that. Those files in the background, I think I remember, were parts like buttons and yarn and things like that to build the puppets.Those Oldies But Goodies...reminds me of-f-f-f-f-f-......Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.......

A little racing action for you today. As you can see, our Dogg doesn't play favorites. NASCAR has started....the Sundays are exciting! I'm looking forward to getting over to Bristol this year! I've been enjoying doing the theme weeks, and I hope you've been digging em , too. I'm going to run a week of non-theme ones...one shots...because I have so many!!!  I'm starting to get orders to run Today's Dogg in some newspapers! I'll let you know which ones as soon as the ink is dry on the Alpo Bag. That's how we write up our contracts here. Copule of pieces of jerky...shake hands..and to get realllll official.... sign an Alpo bag. Lawyers. Humph.  Starting from the first dollar we make, selling the comic any way we can...to websites, newspapers, anywhere..a percentage will go to helping our Dogs. That's how this operation  works. Don't get me wrong......I love money. Love it. So does my agent...and so do all the companies and individuals that we will work with. Hecck, if YOU didn't love money...you'd be paypaling me a hundred bucks a chuckle just because the comic is so funny! BTW..That works for me. Just throwin' that out there. I also accept cash. But...I also LOVE animals. Dogs, Cats. All creatures great and small. I do. And that is what this is all about. I've made alot of product for the biggest names in Show Biz, and I love doing it. But...this one is different. I want this HUGE! And with a HUGE Charitable Heart. So far...I have heard from many folks who need money....and only a couple offering to help us MAKE some. I know. That's how this goes. I'll help all I can...and i can use your help, too.  So..if you have a product line, or anything you want to ask me about with Today's Dogg...I'm listening. If you have a little community paper, and ask them to run it...cool. You can contact me right through this email at the blog. Look...I 've been with the biggest character licensing in the world. I know how it works...and I want to do something special here. Man! Rinny: I'm 10 with a bowl of cereal in front of our old black and white Admiral...on a braided rug....with a comic book, and a Tony The Tiger spoon...and I'm eating those big Shredded Wheat...and mom warmed the milk and put sugar on the top...you, and Bullet...and Roy, The Lone Ranger and Sky King and Lassie....I loved you. I still do. BTW...The current Official Rin-Tin-Tin, trained and bred by Miss Daphne,(The Bloodline is strong and so, so furry, friendly, and everything you ever dreamed Rinny was...) and I will be doing a joint appearance in Danville, Ill! Teaming Up With Local Animal Group...This Saturday!

I'll be out  drawing Pictures, and signing Cartoons and  hanging with everybody this Saturday at the Spay Station Celebration in Lebanon, TN. This is a real cool operation. A Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic that travels all over Tennessee. You get to decide what if any donation you'll make to the cause, and I'll draw Doggs and stuff. Sound like a good deal?The place is Wilson Hyundai...I hope I just spelled that right...and the link to the information is to the left where our links and gadgets are. There are tons of fun stuff for the kids..it's a whole holiday doggie hullaballoo. I'll get there just after Noon. The whole thing kicks off at 11 am. OH! Just in!! Gimme a "DateLineHollywood... Tic tic Tic"... Rin-Tin-Tin, famous Movie and TV Star that he is... is sending Official Hollywood Photos of his famous self, and we'll be handing those out for a donation you decide, too!

Well, I am just starry eyed...I'll tellya! I  just got off the phone with  Rin-Tin-Tin'sOwner/Breeder ~ Daphne Hereford .....and spent an hour or so talking all things RINTY! She is amazing...of course, RIN TIN TIN is amazing.....and the things they do with appearances , with hospitals, the military, all sorts of places...well. Heroic. Ain't that just like RINTY? Well. it's just like Miss Daphne , too. TODAY'S DOGG, as well as my other comic strip, NANCY...will be hooking up with Rin Tin Tin on down the line soon, for some really cool things! I'll keep you updated right here!

HERE'S TO MORE DOGG WINTER GAMES!   Just did a surprise last minute songwriters round with good friend, Jimmy Payne(Woman, Woman by Gary Puckett) and Don Wayne(Saginaw, Mi., Country Bumpkin, Belles of Southern Bell) and what a treat! An "only in Nashville" night! Anyway...adding to the coolness of the night was that all the folks around the bar are readers of Today's Dogg online! That was so cool. I'm used to readers of NANCY...and other things I've done and do...but The DOGG is still so new. Anyway. It's because we all love dogs. That's why this works. OH...I'll be over singing again at The Commodore on Sunday Night if you're in the Nashville area...and I have a cool Dogg Cartoon Signing coming up on the 27th! I'm enjoying the games! I pretty much keep them on most of the day as I am inking my comics. I watch whatever events are on...and pull for the USA. I also pull for Canada quite a bit ( if the USA is out of it) because my girlfriend's family are Canadians, eh. I, of course, spend my mornings in the quiet....the quieter, the better....as that is when I get my writing for Today's Dogg, Nancy, and song ideas going.....hopefully! You never know. Ideas come ,go,and fade away so quickly....I have to catch them when I can. I am so grateful that you are enjoying the DOGG ! We have over 2100 Fans on FB already...and Strum Magazine is featuring us on their homepage! We have our first newspapers asking to run TD! I don't know if YOU know any N.A.I.D.s, but I have one in my life. They are some of the wackiest dogs you'll ever know. My model here is Nitika....one of our dogs. Just got back from Tampa, where it was a lot colder than I hoped it would be. I know...Florida while the whole country is snowbound. Yeah. poor me. We did an outdoor concert , and it  benefitted the Angelus Home in Hudson, Fla. Beautiful, beautiful kids...severely challenged. I've been with the cause now for 16 years. All the performers were terrific, and we have never been treated better. I'll be posting some photos, etc on my personal art and music FB page, as well as GuyGilchristMusic.com in a couple days. I got to see my friend, Aaron Kelly on American Idol....he's in Hollywood now. Aaron is an awesome talent. Just 16. I think I've known him since he was....6 or 7.....9?  a while! Gosh...getting old. I remember 3rd grade and not two weeks ago....sang with him last December. Great kid! Awesome story..great, great voice, and a big heart..... Pullin' for you, Aaron! Good things should happen to good people like Aaron. Enjoying the Oympics? I am... Always do....but two things....what's up with our American Skiers and their uniforms? They look like they're doing freestyle in their jammies. And "Blades Of Glory" with Will Ferrell , I believe, has ruined Pairs Skating for me forever. Oh.........don't get on me for being UN-pc....as we say here in Doggieland. I hope you realize, in case you  are offended by this gag, you will understand that in due time,I'm sure I will offend pretty much everybody. The joke wasn't about drinking...it was HOW could I get a doggie drivin' and the guy in the sidecar!?? I thought about sidecars...and Lou and Bud...and Stan and Ollie.....all those SIDE CAR gags,.....man..........I miss those guys. Now..that stuff was funny. I don't care who you are.....and today's song for the road......... "I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead; I just need some place where I can lay my head. "Hey, mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed?"
